SUMMARY: Responsible for reviewing and registering all claims into a risk management database tracking system.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitor claims notification inbox and enter claims into the claims management system. Produce initial response to customer with identifying claim number and assign each claim to a claims adjuster. Perform preliminary claims investigation to assist with documenting the file, which may include, but is not limited to, researching company's records and requesting information and documentation from external and internal customers.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent, with course work after high school and job-related training preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 2 - 3 years working in the maritime or surface transportation field with basic knowledge of general claims handling practices and be familiar with transportation terminology and documentation.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.

COMPETENCIES: Must speak fluent English, proficient in verbal and written communication.

OTHER: Must have the ability to travel to/from the US for training/other work related purposes. Entry level person with the ability to be promotable. This position is a transitional one where the hire would develop skills to be promoted within two years.

JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time.
