Education: Bachelor’s degree with significant study in or pertinent to the specialized field,
including but not limited to international relations, political science, journalism, communications,
data analytics, social studies, social science, law, or related field is required.
Prior Work Experience: Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in related fields is required, including experience in the preparation, or editing of written documents for public distribution and consumption. Such experience must also include a program and project development focus and include on-the-ground field work in needs assessment, analysis, or reporting on project/program/activity operations. Understanding and use of social media for professional purposes is also required. Previous work experience with a USG or another international development organization is highly desirable.
Language proficiency: Level IV English and Level III in Spanish, both oral and written, is required.

Job Knowledge: Requires knowledge of, and interest in international development work. Needs to have broad knowledge about the Honduran local/national culture and socio-economic context and more detailed knowledge of the context for democratic development, good governance, citizen security or international development. Working knowledge of communication theory and practice, and data analytics is required. Must have thorough knowledge on information gathering input from a broad range of sources; rapidly analyzing information, evaluating data, and preparing and disseminating technical documents or information products. Knowledge relevant to setting up visits and organizing events is another requirement. Knowledge of the structure and workings of the U.S. government is desired.

Skills and abilities and other requirements:

- Must possess excellent writing, editing, and verbal communications skills and have exceptional ability to grasp details within a complex and dynamic development portfolio. Must also be able to communicate complex concepts to different audiences and through different formats (print, online, audio-visual).
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills, be flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances and cross-cultural settings and have the ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines in an extremely fast-paced and collaborative environment.
- Must be a fast learner and be a creative and innovative professional who is organized, results-driven, a self-starter, and with the proven ability to work with teams.
- Tact, diplomacy, and discretion are critical, especially when communicating with people at all levels and when establishing and maintaining collegial relations with outside contacts, while also exercising sound judgment when/if representing the USG.
- Must have the ability to perceive, anticipate, and adapt to changing circumstances, and to understand complex and politically sensitive issues.
- Must have proficiency in using Microsoft Office and Google Suite, web-based applications, as well as have familiarity with more specialized software and equipment, e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud software.
