Nombre exacto del cargo: Shipping and Customs Assistant


Basic Function: The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and facilitating importation and exportation of household and personal effects, privately owned vehicles, unaccompanied baggage, and U.S. Government equipment and supplies for the Department of State and other agencies. The position is in the General Services Office under the supervision of the Shipment Supervisor. The Shipment Assistant is responsible for providing expeditor services during VIP visits and Chief of Mission Travel. The incumbent will be required to drive a U.S.Government vehicle (applicant will be required to provide a valid driver’s license and/or evidence of driver’s license payment receipt).

Experience:

Option 1: Minimum four (4) years of experience in the field of international customs, shipping, logistics, or transportation is required.
Option 2: Minimum six (6) years of experience in the field of international customs, shipping, logistics, or transportation is required.


Education:
Option 1: Two years of University Studies in Customs Administration or Logistics, or in a related field such as business administration, industrial
engineering, or management is required.
Option 2: Secondary school is required.


Language: Fluent Speaking/Reading/Writing in English is required. Fluent Speaking/Reading/Writing in Spanish is required. (This may be tested).



Skills and Abilities: Ability to draft detailed diplomatic communications and reports in English is required. Must be comfortable and able to deal with high-level US and local government contacts. Must have a valid, current license for light vehicles. (This may be tested).
